The tree below was created by Ted Iwaki over 50 years ago.

Michael will teach students a technique for creating a raft-style tree using 6-7 year old 3-gallon San Jose Junipers. Students will learn to repot their tree horizontally and encourage rooting along the recumbent trunk.

Michael will demonstrate how to identify branches to be removed to facilitate planting in a box, which branches are left to be developed into trees, as well as how to prepare the area from which new roots will grow.

Finally, the class will repot the trees in a wooden grow box that will encourage growth of new roots to sustain development of the raft.

Class fees include tree, soil and an 8" x 18 " grow box. Students will be able to take their trees home with them at the conclusion of the workshop. Any tools or wire for work to be performed will be provided. Cost for all is $150.00
